At Bathgate Academy, we are committed to fostering an environment where positive relationships form the foundation of productive learning. Our Positive Relationships Reward Scheme acknowledges pupils who consistently demonstrate our school values and rewards those who go "over and above" our standards.

These values underpin our Positive Relationships Reward Scheme and encourage students to strive for excellence, show respect, and build positive relationships with peers and staff. Our approach also involves engaging with the wider community to ensure that positive behavior extends beyond the school environment.

How the ARK Journey Works
Throughout the academic year, students will have opportunities to earn rewards based on their commitment to ARK values. The reward structure follows a tiered system, culminating in exciting activities and recognition for those who consistently uphold our school's ethos.
Key Milestones in the ARK Journey
August
- Whole school processes begin to track students' demonstration of ARK values.
- Pupils who meet values consistently earn 10 merits per category per week.
- Learning conversations take place to help students reflect on their progress.
October
- Faculty-organized reward events for "over and above" merit winners.
- Learning conversations with Wellbeing teachers to assess student progress.
December
- Pizza Party Reward at Pizza Hut Bathgate for consistently high merit achievers.
- Additional Parkour and Trampoline Activity Day as a school-wide reward.
April
- Faculty-organized events for "over and above" merit winners.
- Continued learning conversations to reinforce positive behavior.
June
- Exciting activities such as zip-lining, inflatable swim courses, and adventure park trips for top merit achievers.
- Whole school celebration and recognition of student accomplishments.
Whole School Approach
Our tracking system ensures that pupils are rewarded fairly and consistently based on the following:
- Ambition: Demonstrated through punctuality and attendance (96% or above).
- Respect: Consistently wearing the school uniform correctly.
- Kindness: Maintaining positive relationships with peers and staff, avoiding behavior referrals.
Going "Over and Above"
Teachers have the discretion to award 10 extra merits to students who go beyond the expected level of commitment to ARK values. This reinforces a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
