Message from Headteacher Grant Abbot and NHS Lothian

Over the past week there has been a small number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the Bathgate Academy school community. Please find attached letter from NHS Public Health.

A number of people have now been contacted because they have been in close and sustained contact with the case and this tracking process is now complete. These contacts will need to self-isolate and appropriate guidance and advice has been given.

To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details about the case will be released.

Please be assured that enhanced cleaning measures are already in place in line with national guidance and there is no evidence of transmission of the virus within the school itself. The school remains open.

If you have not heard from the school your child should attend school as normal.

If you have any concerns, or if you need to book a COVID-19 test at any time because your child develops symptoms (high temperature, a new continuous cough and/or a loss or change in sense of smell or taste) please visit the NHS Inform website www.nhsinform.scot or for non-clinical advice call 0800 028 2816.

Remember to stay at home if anyone in the household has symptoms of COVID-19.
