Advanced Higher Chemistry

This qualification will give students a detailed understanding of the structure of elements of the Periodic Table, the mechanics and dynamics of chemical reactions and bonding and analysis of organic chemistry.  It covers major concepts that make chemistry an important area of investigative science. The course gives an understanding of the way in which chemical principles can be applied to the modern world.

The Advanced Higher Chemistry course comprises three units -

• Electronic Structure and the Periodic Table
• The Principles of Chemical Reactions
• Organic Chemistry

Students will be assessed at the end of each unit by sitting a NAB. Success in each NAB, submission of an Investigation and passing the final exam will determine the final grade obtained.
