Personal & Social Education (PSE)

At Bathgate Academy we take a holistic approach to promoting health and wellbeing and strive to ensure that the learning environment supports young people;

• To develop self awareness, self worth and respect for others
• To meet challenges, manage change and build relationships
• To experience personal achievement and build resilience and confidence
• To develop physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing skills
• To understand how decisions I make about my behaviour and relationships affect my physical and mental wellbeing
• To understand that adults in my school community have a responsibility to look after me, listen to my concerns and involve others where necessary
• To learn about where to find help and resources to inform choices
• To assess and manage risk and understand the impact of risk taking behaviour
• To reflect on my strengths and skills to help me make informed choices when planning my next steps
• To acknowledge diversity and understand that it is everyone's responsibility to challenge discrimination

All pupils receive 1 period of PSE a week (rotation in S4) which is taught by their House Head. The type of content covered within PSE can be seen below.
